EQUS, a privacy-first AI company building the trust layer between people and the AI that acts on their behalf, announced today that it has joined the Washington AI Network, a leading bipartisan forum that brings together leaders from industry, government, civil society, academia and the media to shape the conversation on artificial intelligence in the nation’s capital.

“People and businesses are increasingly looking for AI solutions that protect their privacy and put them in control of their data,” said Sandy Carter, CEO of EQUS. “At EQUS, we’re excited to join the Washington AI Network, where the future of technology is being debated. Trust will define the next era of AI, and we look forward to working with leaders across government and industry to help ensure people can use the power of AI while maintaining ownership and control of their data.”

EQUS’ participation in the network follows the company’s first product launch, EQUS X, a personal AI that enables customers to retain control of their data. EQUS X pairs a personal AI with private data storage the user controls. The product results from years of EQUS’ work in self-sovereign identity and is backed by 14 granted and nine pending patents, including three related to the company’s Private Data Store. EQUS X is available today at Equsx.ai and is free for the first 90 days.

Founded in July 2023 by Tammy Haddad, the Washington AI Network focuses on education, dialogue and progress related to AI innovation and governance. The network convenes policymakers, thought leaders across industry, government, civil society, and academia and national security leaders through its award-winning podcast, CTO Sessions series and events, including the annual AI Honors, a black-tie gala recognizing achievements in artificial intelligence.

As part of the network, EQUS will participate in events and policy conversations, sharing its expertise in privacy-focused AI as Washington addresses the opportunities and challenges presented by the technology.

Carter was also featured in the most recent episode of the Washington AI Network Podcast.

“As the conversation in Washington moves toward AI solutions that protect privacy and data ownership, we’re excited to welcome EQUS and Sandy Carter to the Washington AI Network,” said Tammy Haddad, founder and CEO of the Washington AI Network. “Who owns your data is one of the defining questions of the AI era, and Sandy is one of the most respected voices in AI technology. Her perspective and her team’s expertise and local Washington experience will enrich the conversations we’re having about how AI can move the country forward.”

EQUS joins a membership that includes companies like Amazon, AMD, Anthropic, Bloomberg, Cohere, Constellation, the General Catalyst Institute, GM, IBM, Microsoft, NVIDIA, OpenAI, Pinterest, Scale AI and Uber.

About EQUS

EQUS builds the trust layer between people and the AI that acts for them, and builds it to belong to the person rather than the platform. The platform gives each person somewhere to keep their data, proof of who their AI is acting for, and control over what it may do: a private data store the individual controls, credentials that disclose only what a given interaction requires, and permissions granted and revoked file by file, with a record of everything the AI has been given.
