New self-service API lets corporate buyers, e-commerce platforms and brokers plug directly into CTX’s live carbon market
LONDON, LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, August 25, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Carbon Trade Exchange (CTX), the world’s first and only pure digital spot exchange for voluntary carbon credits, today announced the launch of its Exchange API Solution — a new integration layer that allows external platforms, corporate buyers and brokers to connect directly to CTX’s live carbon marketplace from their own websites, applications and internal systems.
The API gives authorised partners three core capabilities, delivered through simple, secure web calls: a real-time Live Listings Feed of every available carbon credit on the exchange; a Fee & Cost Calculator that returns an exact, buyer-ready cost breakdown before a trade is placed; and Programmatic Trading, which lets a partner execute a live purchase — funds moved, inventory updated, settlement triggered — with a single API call, exactly as if a buyer had clicked “Buy” on the CTX website itself.
“This is one of the most significant infrastructure launches in CTX’s 18 year history,” said Wayne Sharpe, CEO of Carbon Trade Exchange (CTX). “For years, the only way onto our exchange was through the CTX website. Today that changes. Any authorised partner — a retailer, a broker, a corporate sustainability platform — can now embed our entire marketplace inside their own product. We’re not just an exchange anymore; we’re a trading engine other companies can build on.”
The Exchange API Solution is now live . CTX confirms its three core endpoints — Listings, Fees and Buy — have been fully tested and verified with a live retail integration partner, and real trades have already successfully cleared through the API.
Every partner is issued an individually encrypted API key, protected by multi-factor verification and revocable in seconds. Administrators can configure granular listing-visibility rules — filtering by vintage, standard or region — to build curated, partner-specific carbon credit catalogues, while built-in usage analytics give CTX call-level visibility into every partner’s activity.
The API draws on CTX’s full live inventory: credits from more than 50 countries, certified against major standards including Verra VCS, Gold Standard, UNFCCC CDM and Global Carbon Registry, priced from $0.25 to $65.00 per tonne (wholesale) – so resale platforms put their own margin on top – per credit or a % . Their ‘B2B Retail’ Buyers are completely anonymous to CTX. Buyers pay the platform via credit card from as little as 10 tonnes CO2e up to enterprise volumes 1,000s. Because CTX holds credits in escrow, partners never need to buy or warehouse inventory themselves.
CTX recently announced passing its 1 billion Tons CO2e traded since inception in 2008, this launch enables a new range of partners to connect with CTX. Corporate buyers and ESG platforms can automate quarterly credit retirement in line with net-zero targets or embed a live CTX catalogue in their sustainability dashboards. Retail and e-commerce platforms can offer carbon offsets at checkout, fully branded as their own. Brokers and data vendors can pull a live, filterable feed of CTX listed pricing to power their own quotes.
“Every integration partner is a new growth channel for CTX,” Sharpe added. “An API key can be issued in minutes, and from that point on, every trade a partner clears through our API is real volume on our exchange. We built this to make CTX easier to plug into than any other carbon marketplace in the world.”
It is Buy to Retire only, and all Retirement certificates will be issued in the Corporate, Retail or Brokers partners name – CTX wont know end buyers are.
