FAIRFAX, VA, UNITED STATES, August 27, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — New Phase 3 clinical trial findings spanning the diagnosis, imaging, and treatment of cardiac amyloidosis will be presented at the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology 31st Annual Scientific Session and Exhibition (ASNC2026), September 16-19 in Las Vegas. The Late-Breaking Clinical Science session will feature presentations from three pivotal studies: REVEAL, evaluating I-124 evuzamitide PET/CT for the diagnosis of cardiac amyloidosis; CARDIAG, evaluating F-18 florbetaben PET for AL cardiac amyloidosis; and CARDIO-TTRansform, evaluating the TTR gene-silencing therapy eplontersen in patients with transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM).

REVEAL: Phase 3 Evaluation of I-124 Evuzamitide PET/CT

Sharmila Dorbala, MD, MPH, MASNC, will present results from the Phase 3 REVEAL trial, evaluating I-124 evuzamitide PET/CT as a diagnostic approach for cardiac amyloidosis.

The open-label, multicenter study enrolled 170 adults with suspected cardiac amyloidosis at 18 U.S. centers, including patients with suspected AL, ATTR, and other forms of amyloidosis. Participants underwent cardiac and partial-body PET/CT imaging following administration of evuzamitide. PET/CT images were independently assessed by cardiac PET/CT experts and compared with an independently adjudicated standard-of-care diagnosis incorporating clinical, laboratory, imaging, biopsy, and genetic data.

At ASNC2026, Dr. Dorbala will present the trial’s diagnostic efficacy results, including the sensitivity and specificity of evuzamitide PET/CT. The findings will provide a Phase 3 assessment of a novel amyloid-targeted PET approach in a broad population with suspected cardiac amyloidosis.

CARDIAG: Phase 3 Study of F-18 Florbetaben PET for AL Cardiac Amyloidosis

Paco E. Bravo, MD, will present findings from the Phase 3 CARDIAG study, designed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of F-18 florbetaben PET in AL cardiac amyloidosis.

Unlike conventional cardiac imaging, which generally identifies the structural and functional consequences of amyloid deposition, amyloid-targeted PET is designed to visualize amyloid fibrils directly. CARDIAG also includes exploratory analyses evaluating whether quantitative PET can distinguish AL from ATTR cardiac amyloidosis and detect extracardiac amyloid deposition.

Dr. Bravo will review findings from earlier studies of F-18 florbetaben in cardiac amyloidosis and discuss the CARDIAG study design and its potential implications for clinical use. The presentation also will compare the imaging characteristics of F-18- and I-124-labeled amyloid-targeting compounds, providing perspective on the evolving landscape of amyloid PET.

CARDIO-TTRansform: Phase 3 Trial of Eplontersen in ATTR-CM

Brett W. Sperry, MD, FASNC, will present results from the randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase 3 CARDIO-TTRansform trial, evaluating eplontersen in patients with transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy.

Eplontersen is an antisense oligonucleotide that reduces hepatic production of transthyretin (TTR). The trial randomized 1,432 patients with wild-type or variant ATTR-CM at 130 centers in 20 countries to receive eplontersen or placebo every four weeks for 140 weeks, on top of standard of care. More than half of participants were receiving a TTR stabilizer at baseline.

At ASNC2026, Dr. Sperry will present efficacy and safety results for the trial’s primary composite endpoint of cardiovascular mortality and recurrent cardiovascular events, along with functional, quality-of-life, and mortality outcomes. Analyses will examine the overall population as well as patients receiving TTR stabilizers and those receiving eplontersen without baseline stabilizer therapy. As the largest ATTR-CM trial to date, CARDIO-TTRansform has the potential to provide important insights into TTR gene silencing and combination treatment strategies.

A Look at What’s Next in Cardiac Amyloidosis

Together, the three studies address important questions across the cardiac amyloidosis continuum, from detecting and characterizing amyloid deposits to modifying the underlying disease process.
