The company will present a 2026 programme of more than 7,200 catalogue items spanning turning, milling, drilling, grooving, threading and boring, together with the newly introduced ECOBODY family, in Hall 1, Stand 1J86.

Why Tool Selection Now Determines Machining Cost
In CNC production the cutting tool is rarely the largest line on an invoice and frequently the largest variable in cost per part. Tool life, changeover time and vibration behaviour determine cycle times, surface quality and scrap rates more directly than unit price. That calculation has become harder across European manufacturing: series are shorter and change more often, tolerances have tightened, and materials have become less forgiving, among them austenitic stainless steels, titanium and hardened alloys used in aerospace, defence and electric powertrain components.

How SMOXH Addresses Boring, Drilling and Milling
Internal diameter work illustrates the issue. As the ratio of unsupported overhang to bar diameter rises, rigidity falls, and beyond approximately four diameters most plain steel bars begin to chatter under normal cutting parameters. Anti-vibration boring bars, which carry an internal damping mass tuned to the natural frequency of the bar, extend that limit in aerospace components, hydraulic cylinders and precision engineering work. Finish boring answers a different requirement: dimensional accuracy and surface quality on precision internal diameters in final operations, frequently to an H7 fit. Damped bars and modular boring systems address separate needs.

ECOBODY is a modular internal turning system in which interchangeable E-Fit cartridges mount on a single tool body, so that one body covers a range of internal operations instead of requiring a separate bar for each. According to SMOXH product documentation, the design reduces tooling investment and simplifies inventory management.

Indexable drilling replaces the resharpening cycle of solid drills with replaceable inserts clamped in a steel body, supporting consistent hole position and diameter across a production series. SMOXH variable-tip drilling tools, including U-drill configurations, are directed at high-volume hole-making in automotive and general machinery production. The milling range covers indexable milling cutters, groove mills and high-feed milling tools. High-feed milling combines a shallow axial depth of cut with a high feed per tooth and directs cutting force predominantly along the spindle axis, supporting higher removal rates on machines with limited rigidity.

Where Catalogue Breadth Meets Application Engineering

More than 7,200 catalogue references cover shank sizes and forms, insert seats and geometries, right-hand and left-hand configurations, coolant routing and machine interfaces, allowing a single supplier to serve turning, milling, drilling, grooving, threading and boring requirements. Machining problems, however, do not always match catalogue dimensions. Stepped bores in pump and valve bodies, restricted fixturing in defence components and cycle-time targets in automotive production cells call for tooling designed around the operation. Mustafa Şimşek began producing tool holders for CNC lathes and milling machines in a 50 square metre workshop in 2004.
